Causes of foaming of concrete admixtures

Based on the principles of aggregate grading and compacting performance, foam and voids often occur during construction due to unreasonable material composition. Issues such as excessive coarse aggregates, insufficient fine aggregates, a high content of needle-like and flaky particles in crushed stone, and an actual sand ratio lower than the laboratory design value can all lead to insufficient filling between coarse aggregates. As a result, the aggregate structure cannot be fully compacted, leaving free gaps that easily form unwanted bubbles. In addition, unreasonable cement dosage and an inappropriate water-cement ratio are also key factors contributing to bubble formation in concrete.

Application of Concrete admixture antifoam

RISE concrete admixture antifoam is widely applied in the defoaming and foam control of various construction material production processes, including cement mortar, water reducer, ready-mixed concrete, asbestos tiles, calcium silicate boards, putty powder, mineral slurry, gypsum, cement products, and other related fields.

Product introduction

Concrete Admixture Antifoam performs exceptionally well under strong alkaline conditions. In high-pH defoaming systems, it remains stable with no emulsion breaking. In fact, its defoaming and foam-suppression effects become even more effective under such conditions compared to room temperature.

It features fast defoaming speed and long-lasting foam control. With a low effective dosage, it helps reduce overall application costs. This antifoam is suitable for defoaming in various concrete systems, including ordinary Portland cement and special cement.

Usage and Precautions

1. Dosage: The recommended addition rate is 0.05%–0.3% based on different application systems, with the exact dosage adjustable according to on‑site conditions.

2. Packing: The product is available in 25 kg, 200 kg, or 1000 kg plastic drums.

3. Storage: Keep sealed in a cool, well‑ventilated and dry indoor environment. Ensure the container is tightly closed before and after use. The shelf life is 12 months when stored at around 25°C.

4. Transportation: During transportation, the product must remain tightly sealed to avoid contamination from moisture, strong acids, strong alkalis, rainwater or other impurities.
